Tilda Swinton and David Thewlis joining The Zero Theorem
Tilda Swinton and David Thewlis have joined the cast of upcoming sci-fi film 'The Zero Theorem', which will be director Terry Gilliam's first movie since 2009's 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus'.

Tilda Swinton and David Thewlis have joined the cast of 'The Zero Theorem'.
The actors are set to star in the upcoming sci-fi film, which will be 71-year-old director Terry Gilliam's first feature since 2009's 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus', Indiewire reports.

Although little information has been released, a brief synopsis of the film has been revealed, which states: ''An eccentric and reclusive computer genius plagued with existential angst works on a mysterious project aimed at discovering the purpose of existence - or the lack thereof - once and for all.''

Christoph Waltz is to play the computer genius and director Terry has revealed that unlike many of his other hits this film will be set largely in just one location.
He explained: ''The main character is literally living in this burnt-out chapel which one could take as a metaphor for old beliefs and old systems.

''He's a computer genius but he's just sitting there waiting for a phone call, which he's hoping will give meaning to his life.

''It really is about relationships, and discovering what's really important in life ... two-thirds of it - if not more - take place in a ruined chapel.''

Terry gave fans a sneak preview of the ruined chapel set on his Facebook page.
The 36-day shoot kicks off on October 22.[/i]

ION Cinema Ranks "The Zero Theorem"

Entertainment website ION Cinema posted their "Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2013" countdown to number one and listed "The Zero Theorem" as number sixty-eight. The post includes a short summary of the film and brief insight on the production status, including an expected late-2013 limited release date.

Article re-posted below, visit ION Cinema for original post;

Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2013: #68. Terry Gilliam’s "The Zero Theorem"
A filmmaker whose filmography is worthy of a full semester in any film theory seminar, Terry Gilliam has no limitations in his creativity so it’ll be of interest to see how he works still in the sci-fi realm but on a much smaller production in scope. His twelfth feature film reunites him with Matt Damon, but it’ll be Christoph Waltz’s time to shine.

Gist: Qohen Leth (Christoph Waltz) is an eccentric and reclusive computer genius who lives in an Orwellian corporate world and suffers from existential angst. Under the instruction of a shadowy figure known only as “Management” (Matt Damon), Qohen works to solve the “Zero Theorem” – a mathematical formula which will finally determine whether life has any meaning. Qohen’s work in the burnt-out chapel that serves as his home is interrupted by visits from Bainsley, a seductive woman, and Bob, the teenage son of Management.

Release Date: Currently in post-production, principal photography in October, it appears that some territories are planning for a December release. With such a cast in place, I could see a huge film festival showing either Cannes, Venice and or TIFF.
