I watched Divorcing Jack for the first time today... I think I'm in love  It's just pushed down my DVD collection and sat proudly on top of it.

I loved the character, I thought Dan Starkey was hilarious. Mr Thewlis, your talent never ceases to impress and amaze me!!!

This is such an easy film to watch too; I recently watched Naked and I couldn't stand that 'Jeremy' bloke, he was a nasty piece of work. So to have even the 'baddies' as likeable characters was nice.

Have seen Divorcing Jack in the meantime, too. Gosh, what a comedian David is! Brilliant! That scene in the park when he glides along the bench to get closer to Margret! And I coulnd't choose which other scenes to mention, they were all terrific. Especially the one in the bar with Parker cracked me up.

Btw, did you notice that on the wall in Starkey's living room there is a movie poster of Destry Rides Again? No wonder, as the Destry character is very similar to Starkey (minus the booze, of course ). But Destry also is a very involuntary hero, and Jimmy Stewart is almost as awkward as David in this part. The only difference is Destry doesn't get the girl  in the end. I'm sure it is a deliberate quotation.

And did you note the cat tattoo on Patricia's upper arm?? 8)
One day the next thing I do won't be the wrong thing to do.

Yup, agreeing with everyone else here, definitely one of his best films and one of my favourites of his :D

Dan Starkey is adorable  And gotta love that accent!

David is just brilliant in this film, like every other role he plays he totally immerses himself into the character and makes them so believable. He is brilliant at the comedy aspect of it, the way he delivers lines and the facial expressions are spot on. There are so many laughs in this film and if it hadn't been David playing Dan then I'm prepared to bet it wouldn't have been anywhere near as funny.

Some of my favourite parts:

Saying to his boss "You pay me to write s***e!"
On the bench with Margaret and the way he slides over :D
His reaction when White Riot comes on at the party
"She was just giving me a mint!"
His little scream when he sees Margaret's dog
The answer machine message Patricia leaves when he returns home and the line about his record being melted in the sandwich toaster, "Byeeee!" His facial reaction is just hilarious!
In the phonebox calling Patricia where she tells him she "Potato'd" Margaret and he goes hysterical and says "Not the potatoes!" And then the way he says "Shut the f*** up!" to Charles, again it's his acting that makes such a simple line so hilarious to watch.
And many, many more moments but I shan't reel them all off as I would be here all day!

A fantastic movie, easy to watch and David is just a joy.
