Bought it on Friday! :D

Pre-ordered it at Barnes and Noble and recieved it a few days early - I'm so happy! It feels like the same day I recieved the DVD of Cheeky in the mail, I waited years for it and now it's actually here!

So far, I'm in the middle of the second chapter (I have to work really long shifts at work this weekend) so hopefully tonight I'll get a bit further. :D

I just loved the book. I liked it much better than I've ever expected, David clearly has a huge talent for writing too.
For me it was just the right book for my mood at the time, so I got under it's influence for days. I'm sure you know the feeling, when you read a book/see a film/listen to some music, and you think that piece was made specifically for you. The same happened with me and The late Hector Kipling.

Have you seen, The Late Hector Kipling was shortlisted for the Bad Sex "Award"? :?
I clearly don't understand what's the point of this "Award"... I mean, they want to dicourage authors writing cruel or distasteful sex-scenes, and if you read only that scene it is disgusting, but in the whole novel it does have a function, and a place...

It was!? o_O. Well, hopefully David will take it in stride... he seems like a guy who can lump the bad in with the good and laugh at it all. Besides... I doubt an award like that is taken seriously. What award show is this for?

Considering he was nominated twice in the same year for a Razzie, I don't think it'll bother him LOL :D

Wait! There is a sex scene in this book? Now I really got to get this thing. Nah I kid, but I seriously hope to get it for Christmas. From what I have read on the reviews it sounds like a great book. Something I might actually get into. I've been so bored with books lately it is not even funny. 8)

The Rocky Mountain News posted a very favorable review of The Late Hector Kipling as part of an online feature about the best debut novels of 2007. The writer, Dan Whipple, said this, among other things:

"It seems that novels written by show business people are often released because, with the authors' high profiles, publishers figure they'll sell enough copies to turn a profit. I thought I'd read just enough of Hector Kipling to confirm such prejudices — but Thewlis sucked me in completely. His story is sometimes seriously funny and sometimes like a car wreck you can't take your eyes off — wildly creative, funny, tragic and thought-provoking."
