You won't be disappointed!

P.S. I don't know if you've seen Besieged or not, but I highly recommend the book it was based off of. James Lasdun is an incredible writer.

Okay, so I just watched the movie & it was absolutely brilliant. I mean, it was exactly the way I pictured it while I read the screenplay. David was fantastic in it.

& no, I haven't seen Besieged yet (at least, I don't remember ever watching it), but I will remember your recommendation. =]

Saw it. Loved it. For some reason I never quite clicked with Claire, but David was amazing. Better than I had anticipated, honestly.

I can't wait to see it.. and I will see it one day.. some how, but when I think of it as a film.. and I read the book (script) and seen the screencaptures.. it doesn't seem it can be.. all that long, more like a tv movie, but I will have to wait and see, I know I haven't actually watched it, but I have read the book as I said and I love the story, best thing I have read since HP, can't say enough good things about it.. not sure if he is mad, or something else is going on, love a good book with twists.. just a few more pages left.. and I might get the answer. :D

I saw the film a few days ago and I though it was extremely well done & honestly a great film :) !

*SPOILER BELOW*

David of course was brilliant, he continues to amaze me after all of his performances, especially with this film (during all of the emotional scenes, where he loses Claire & is able to have her back) the emotion on-screen was very powerful.

For some reason I never quite clicked with Claire, but David was amazing. Better than I had anticipated, honestly.

I didn't click with Claire either for some reason :? I'm guessing since she was such a mysterious character that we didn't get to learn much about her until near the end (and neither did Martin). Usually I get attached to characters around the middle of the film...I think watching it a second time will alter that ;) .

After watching the 'making of' featurette I understood a lot more about the film, and I really want to pick up the book & read it now. The entire storyline was amazing and there was so much involved with Claire & Martin's relationship in the single setting, Paul Auster is brilliant.

I'm hoping a second run through may help me with Claire too. It may have been the actress... seeing the movie has prompted me to want to read the book. It's around here somewhere in the great pile of literature I have on my 'to-read' list ;D I'm hoping Claire may be a bit more fleshed out and likeable in the books...

And I still shed a tear for David's poor thumb. XD

For me I actually didn't care much for Claire's past, I read it first and just thought.. yes she is the niece, and believed they practically fell in love at first sight, he didn't care and loved her for who she was.. nothing to judge her by from her past, and I thought it was one of the most powerful parts in the book. He might have asked her at the beginning who she was, but soon put that aside.. soon read it again. Might be them things to have to read again to pick more things up about her.

Irene Jacobs did pretty well, I haven't seen her in anything besides this film, I think choosing her for the role was a good choice & she did very well with it.

I know  I remember when we heard he broke his thumb last year & we we're sending him virtual hugs. I'll never watch that scene again without thinking about what happened to his thumb, poor David!

I looked her up, and everything she's done seems to be French, except a role in the Secret Garden back in 1993, I haven't seen that movie in YEARS. I think her acting was good, I guess Clair just rubbed me wrong *shrug*.

Did you watch that bit in the special features? Didn't you just cringe?

Check the bookshelf in my bedroom. I'm pretty sure I left it in there after I read it.

HEYO, I have both the screenplay (I would...) & the Book of Illusions. I can lend 'em to you, if you'd like. Btw, chances are that I'd probably have to hand deliver the stuff to you. I've got so much work to do, I haven't had any time to write/burn cds. That okay?

& dislocating fingers suck! I'm pretty sure I've dislocated most of my fingers playing basketball & probably at volleyball too. What a pain - I was excused from homework though. Hahaha
