Very good friends of vampires, though not if your Voultri as we found out in Twilight.

If you are refering to Tannim's comment, it would be moonlight in context to Remus because of his Wolfsbane. Any other werewolf (such as Fenrir) it would be moonrise. However, I'm sure this can be debated in circles until Jo comes out and says exactly what happens in her universe.

And as for Twilight... *refrains comment*

...and BUFFY  .

These series usually contain various interpretations of werewolves depending on the storyline of the particular show/novel - Remus' wolf status is all up to Jo Rowling (as is his background...). I'm assuming he can only transform in the full moon light, they've included that during the film as well.

Now I wonder this as well, is Teddy half werewolf half transforming (darn I forgot exactly the name of Tonks' power) Jo never mentioned if Teddy inherited any of his father's wolf-like traits, she only mentions that he can transform his appearance like Tonks.

Hey, I liked Buffy! :[ But the werewolves in Buffyverse were a little... eh.

I don't have the quote, but I know JKR said in one of the very first interviews after DH came out that Teddy was not a werewolf and had no werewolf tendencies. His only abilities were that of a Metamorphmagus.

EDIT: Found it:
10. Was Teddy Lupin a werewolf?

No he was a Metamorphmagus, like Tonks (who, incidentally, was a Hufflepuff).

Oh they weren't werewolves in Twilight. They were shape shifters. Voultri Court explain the diffrence, and hate Werewolves. Though in folklore, Vampires can control Werewolves.

No Teddy wouldn't have, Werewolves are made not born. They don't transform for the three days of the full moon and it is only at night at moonrise. I think I read enough werewolf literature while writing my dissertation to know what I am talking about.

I don't think I said anything funny in my post. Quite offended really, I was trying to point out that my point was as valid as anyone elses after being made to feel rather irrelevant.

Watch your words with me. This thread pertains to Remus Lupin or Harry Potter in general only - stay on topic or your comments will be deleted.

While there's lots of werewolf lore, it all depends on which series you're reading, or who the author is. Twilight werewolves, Buffy, those in in mythology, HP werewolves, etc. are all different.

So just to clear things up, the werewolves being discussed in this thread are the ones from the HP Mythos, which is why it's here in the Lupin Board.

Thanks folks!

I personally can't stand werewolves that look like just a big dog, or a big wolf. I like it when you can tell they are an equal mix of wolf and man, like you see in Underworld and Van Helsing (Anthropomorphic werewolves). To me, someone who becomes a 'wolf' isn't a werewolf, that's a shapeshifter. I didn't like the look of the PoA werewolf, but I did like how you could at least tell it was once a man.

I think the New Moon werewolves just look like very big dogs :\ But I'm also bias, because I just don't like the Twilight series period.

I am with Mandi, but I do love the POA werewolf, very different from over and you can still see Remus in its features yet it was still wolf-like, the New moon ones look good... but they do just look like large wolves, Van Helsing ones looked more right, but a little too beefed up, I think it depends on the person, if they are thin, lanky, small, fat etc, it should come out in the wolf part, not a complete change

Yes, but in new moon they are supposed to be like big wolves. They don't have any human-like features and they are the size of a horse

i would have prefered the poa wolf to have more hair though... it just looks pathetic now, and really not that scary or strong as a werewolf should be imho

I know they're supposed to be like big wolves in that series, but I still think that's dumb LOL. Just my personal taste. I didn't like the wolves much in Blood and Chocolate either.

As for PoA, the werewolf was supposed to be MUCH more scarier, but they dumbed it down because the producers or director thought it be too scary and would force them to up the rating of the movie. I agree, he needed more hair. And he also needed to look like he wasn't being starved to death.

this is quite funny because in holland they had to add a new viewers rate for the movie? we have ratings for 6+, 12+, 16+ and 18+. But it was too scared for 6+ and 12+ would mean the movie would draw less viewers? So they added 9+ specially for poa :3

but the dementors were a lot scarier than the werewolf though :S

i have to say, that i really hated the way that they did the lupin as a werewolf at first. but as times gone on its kind of grown on me. true he doesnt look very intimidating or anything, but it is kinda nice to get a break from the "traditional werewolf" look. (yeah know all big and shaggy and such).
but i was thinkin, maybe it was because he had been taking the potion from snape, which eased the transformation. and true he hadn't taken it that night, but maybe it kind of still helped anyway.
What I want to see is in the next film when he tells Harry, Hermione, and Ron that he's been working with the "real werewolves". I want to see if maybe they show some of that and he looks more fully transformed. ya know...
