HBP Discussion (Warning: SPOILERS)

Post15 Jul 2009, 13:39

I just came back from the cinema! It was so much better than I'd expected!

Remus' scenes were so nice! I loved the way they refered to his 'cyclus'. It made us laugh so hard!

Guh, and the 'darling' was so.... corny...

Yet, it all wasn't right. Tonks' hair is still brown while she calls Remus 'darling?' eh?

Oeh I got such naughty thoughts when they are in the grain field! The scene where Remus looks at his right and sees Tonks... guh I would have given a million if he would have jumped her ^^'

Edit: er.... let's also say something about the entire movie...

LOVED SNAPE! Especially the scene where Ron's in the hospital wing and Lavender and Hermione are having a fuss. Snape's face is like: 'er.... bothered?' It was so great! Slughorn's eyebrow was epic!

Slughorn was very well cast! I was so glad when it was announced Broadbent would play him, becasue secretly, I had hoped it would be him! Such a coincidence!

Loved DRACO! He did such a good thing! I've really learnt to appreciate Draco more since this book. But wth, why does he have a dark mark? He doesn't have that in the book!

Greyback was scaring the f*ck out of me! I had a glimpse of hope at the Burrow scene that he would lunge himself onto Remus for a little battle. But unfortunately....

Cave scene with Dumbledore was so sad. And him dying... erg... we could hear people in the cinema cry!

RON! OMG! I had such a good laugh when he got poisoned! He was so adorable and corny!

HeeHee, Arthur hugging the pillow. Just too cute ^^

And the Harry/Ginny scenes were just too corny to look at. It annoyed me to death.

LUNA! Heeee! She's so cute. Love that silly dress of her and her 'I've never been here before, only in my dreams, that's why I always were shoes in bed for when I'm sleepwalking' She's just great!

I could rant on for hours!

I think the movie was really good, considering the script came from a pretty big book.
That there are so many differences didn't bother me at all! The story was nice, with a lot of humor and romance in it and you saw some different faces from the characters.

The whole Remus/Tonks scene made my jaw drop instantly. I loved it! =D Though it wasn't much, it did gave the R/T shipper inside very very very happy! The 'darling' made my heart skip a beat.
Too bad Luna found Harry in the train, because I really had hoped that we would have a closer look on Tonks in this movie. I love Natalia immensly and thinks she is great to play Tonks, but it's just... so little of her :(

Hermione rocked my socks this times. I had to cry when she was sobbing against Harry... She is so much more sensitive than I imagined.

Slughorn is awesome! Pure love!

The scene where Harry takes the Felix Fortunatis (hate that word) is just too funny to be true! The first time that Harry was actually a nice and funny bloke. That whole scene is just to laugh your arse off!

The whole Burrow/Swamp scene is brilliant, though so sad for the Weasleys. The Burrow was the best place evah!

So little side-characters in this movie. I missed Mad-eye, Shacklebolt... and eventually I really missed Remus and Tonks.

Remus looks good! But I dislike Tonks' hairstyle. I loved the grey-ish purple.

Great movie! Above my expectations! Great job David/WB/actors/staff!

OMG!! i've seen the movie yesterday evening.. and it was so magic!! *-*
uff.. with my bad english i'm sure that i can't be able to say how much i like this movie and why.. so.. i'll focus on nat and dave..

a very small part but very nice.. ^^
when she speak about the moon and remus's condition.. and when she call him sweetheart (here in italy she calls him "AMORE" it means "MY LOVE" *-*)
And when they are both running through the rushes, see each other moving and turn around and they like "Oh it's you..." XD

Too bad Luna found Harry in the train, because I really had hoped that we would have a closer look on Tonks in this movie. I love Natalia immensly and thinks she is great to play Tonks, but it's just... so little of her

totally agree.. -.-
poor tonks.. and remus too.. their part was too small.. X3

but finally i think that's one of the best HP movie.. cryed a lot..

Yay spoiler thread thing. I went to see it yesterday with my dear friend whos really into films and is training to critic them :). Some of the things we picked up on: -

Borgin and Burkes, for being a shop full of shifty things, had awfully big glass windows :D .

Harry leaves a wizarding newspaper in a muggle station.

Greyback is FIT in high defenition. Gave us nightmares. *shudders*

I loved the bit with the burrow but I felt like Remus makes his point about Draco and then everyone else is like 'Don't worry Harry, its just the full moon making him moody'. :) . I loved that they kept Remus and Tonks relationship in there as its my favorite. I paticually love Nats little silencing motion to Harry warning him not to push it.

Helena Bonham Carter gave a stunning performance. Paticually when she was swinging around the trees nr the end. I loved that bit

Helena Bonham Carter + Acting = (y)

Felix stuff scene = love.

Ginny/Harry = cringe although still ok

Overall a great film. Well done David and everyone else who was involved :D

xx

I was very impressed with the film, have to admit its one of the best yet, if not the best!

First and foremost, I'm extremely glad that they included a hint of the romance between David and Natalia's characters. I'm anxious to see what they will include in the upcoming films, but the scene in Half-Blood Prince was enough to indicate that they have something between them. In fact, a few of my friends that hadn't read the books have asked me what happened in the book between Remus and Tonks because they noticed those two were together romantically based on what they saw in the film - which is a good sign!

The 'Burrow' sequence was actually a bit lengthier then we all anticipated, which was fantastic! David, although his appearance in the film brief, portrayed Remus wonderfully yet again. You really sense the protectiveness Remus has for Harry and the brewing tension of the affects of his condition, fantastically done David ;) !

Jim Broadbent was extraordinary as Slughorn, I'm thrilled he was cast for the role as he is another one of my top five favorite actors! Viccy and I were always anticipating that either Jim or Ray Winstone would join the Potter cast, and I'm glad that Jim was selected to play Horace, he and the character were a perfect match. I wasn't a fan of Slughorn in the books, but in the film he quickly became one of my favorites to see on-screen. I agree on Viccy with this one...we loved his EPIC EYEBROW - brilliant!

The romance between Harry and Ginny would have to be my only complaint, it felt very dull and slow (a bit cheesy I must admit!). Must be because I wasn't a fan of those two ending up together in the end, not a Ron/Hermione fan either but Harry/Ginny just seems too awkward. Ginny going to tie Harry's shoe laces was a bit erm, suggestive? LOL!

The other somewhat awkward cheesy scene was when Katie Bell was attacked by the necklace, everyone in the audience laughed for a long time on that one.

The Ron and Lavender scenes were hilarious - especially because she was so 'obsessive' it made me crack up! Lavender's loving reactions to Ron were overdone but in an intentional and funny way, I enjoyed all of their scenes (especially the heart in the train ROFL!!).

The Warner Bros. screening in Hollywood was fantastic - I want to thank the company very much for that amazing opportunity. Everyone who attended with us had a great time, we got wonderful seats and unlimited condiments (popcorn, soda, etc.) that was very kind of them!

Unfortunately, photos, cell phones, and even keeping our ticket stubs was forbidden, security was extremely strict, they removed a few people from the screening and theater for sneaking in their cell phones. Hollywood screenings are notorious for pirating material and releasing it early, I understand their precautions. Luckily Jen was able to take photos from her Warner Bros. VIP screening in Detroit, she'll be able to post those soon!

Again, thank you Warner Bros. we had a brilliant time at the pre-screening and loved the film!

Ray Winstone? I don't even know who that is! :P

TBH, I'm not really fond of Emma. It seems she can't act without using her eyebrows :S

Oh yes! I loved that one! As if she knows Remus so much better than others (as in, she's ben there... don't go on Harry....)!

Seriously?! You don't know who Ray Winstone is?! Shame on you Vic, hahaha  !

Okay, maybe that was someone else from here I had that conversation with!

LOL. I meant Helena Bonham Carter. What a tool!!! It was a continuation of the paragraph above aswell. haha. I thought Emma acting has improved aswell though. :)

I'll just go to bed. Got to get up early as I'm going to Harry Potter again with my sister (who didn't go last time and, well, I promised :) )

Maybe I'll remember more of the film this time

Oh, wow. Just came back from the cinema, and I'm still a little stunned.

The film was great, and, considering the length of the book it was adapted from, it was done really well. Very intense, with a fantastic mixture of romance, horror and action. I loved the scene with the Inferi, and Jim Broadbent as Slughorn was freaking amazing.

I have to admit, though, that the whole "sweetheart" thing by the burrow kind of irked me. I seriously can't stand Tonks.

OMG YOU GUYS.

I (obviously) just got back from watching HBP for the first time, and I effing LOVED IT. Almost every last second of it's 2 hours and 33 minutes. OOOOOOOOMG. I wrote a bit-by-bit, kinda comprehensive review over at my LiveJournal, if anyone's interested, it's right here --> http://lady-tavington.livejournal.com/408025.html#cutid1. Mind the spoilerific spoilers though, snickersnicker.

And as for my opinion on Remus and Remus/Tonks...Anyone who knows me knows I'm a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge Remus/Tonks shipper (in more ways than one, but no one wants to hear my sob story), so I was absolutely THRILLED that, even if they had just those couple of scenes in the entire friggin' movie, it was friggin' R/T. That moment just after Tonks warns Harry to not push it, when Tonks gets up, and Lupin follows, I just about MEEEEEEEEELTED. I was like, "Yes, off she goes to gently tell him off for PFMS-ing all over The Burrow's living room, and then they'll have a nice little snog, and then dinner. YAYNESS." Hee.

ALTHOUGH:
Molly: Sure you can't stay?
Tonks: No, I think we'll go...::whispers to Molly:: The first night of the cycle is always the worst.
Remus: (SHOULD have rolled his eyes and said) I'm, like, right here, yo, I can totes hear you talking about me like I'm not, like, here. DUH.

That would've made my night, but alas. XDDDDDDDDDD Anyway. Yes, I squee-ed a bit when she said "Sweetheart," because I heart Tonks, and I heart Lupin, and I heart Lupin and Tonks, and obviously I'm not really coherent as I've just had a wonderful dinner, but you'll read this anyway and react, XDDDDDD.

ALSO: You know you've let the grass in your wetlands grow too tall when they're taller even than David Thewlis.

Yep, I totally loved all the Remus and Tonks in this movie, and I can't wait to see Deathly Hallows for obvious reasons. :D

Whahaah exactly my thoughts! Shame Arthur and Harry went in the shed, or else it would have made a wonderful fic ;).

And I have the same idea with the grass scene, when you see Remus and he looks around and Tonks is there. I would have murdered someone if he would have jumped her ^^
