I found the ending a bit amusing, more of a, "What the heck did I miss" sort of thing that displayed Hector's lack of attachment to anyone at all exceptionally well.

My copy was in the mail finally yesterday and I read it in one go until the wee hours.... It's terrific, or should I say hysterical? I liked it a lot, and laughed about the millions of stunning ideas. The end surprised me a bit, though it does completely make sense.

Best was the thing about Tutankhamen riding on his bicycle into the sea. I mean, it would have been sooo easy to write papyrus-boat or s.th., but bicycle? One has got to hit on this in the first place! Ingenuous!

I'm not sure I'll continue to call myself a writer, too, after reading this.........
One day the next thing I do won't be the wrong thing to do.

Like the menstrual stain shaped like Africa on the sofa?

I have no idea how he came up with that, but my immature humor went into overdrive.

Who looks at a menstrual stain long enough to discern a shape? That is funny!

Well, if it's right in the middle of a settee, you might have to look at it somewhat longer. Later on, the second stain on the second settee (beetroot), has the same shape. Wonder what that's supposed to mean? A secret or symbolic love for Africa? An omen of danger?
