19 OCTOBER 2008
Tannim, myself, and fellow visitors of our Network headed to the “Heartland Film Festival” at the ‘Murat Center’ in Indianapolis, Indiana, to attend the North American premiere of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Our staff gained exclusive press passes to cover the event on behalf of our Site, and we’ve written several reports at the discussion board recapping the premiere. After David’s Q&A session following the screening, we had the opportunity to personally pass along to him our first fan project (the iProject) to which he was very excited about! Afterwards, we also met and spoke with David at the reception hall for quite some time and he offered us clarification to rumors circulating his latest projects and passed along his praises to our staff and forum members for the success of our network. In addition, David also gave us hints of his upcoming roles and was willing to take a group photograph for our Site!
David, thank you so much, we cannot explain how unbelievably appreciative we are. There are no words to describe how much that treasured moment at the reception meant to all of us. On behalf of your fans here at ‘Thewlis Rox’, the staff, and myself, we are truly honored.
During the Q&A session following the screening of the film, Tannim and I took our press positions near the stage to record the entire interview. A few weeks later, theaters across the United States offered free screenings of the film and this Q&A (cut to a fifteen minute segment) was shown afterwards. We are the only other press members at the event who recorded the audience Q&A, and our staff has uploaded the segment full and unedited to our YouTube Community for David’s fans to enjoy universally!
Many thanks to Margaret Henney, who arranged our press passes for the screening that allowed us to take photos and cover video footage of the entire premiere. Of course, a very big thank you to Mandi and Tannim for picking me up (and dropping me off) from the airport and arranging our car/hotel/tickets, I’m very grateful to you both.
