The film is set for release on November 15, 2013 (United States).

ION Cinema Ranks “The Zero Theorem”

Entertainment website ION Cinema posted their “Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2013″ countdown to number one and listed “The Zero Theorem” as number sixty-eight. The post includes a short summary of the film and brief insight on the production status, including an expected late-2013 limited release date.

A filmmaker whose filmography is worthy of a full semester in any film theory seminar, Terry Gilliam has no limitations in his creativity so it’ll be of interest to see how he works still in the sci-fi realm but on a much smaller production in scope. His twelfth feature film reunites him with Matt Damon, but it’ll be Christoph Waltz’s time to shine.

Gist: Qohen Leth (Christoph Waltz) is an eccentric and reclusive computer genius who lives in an Orwellian corporate world and suffers from existential angst. Under the instruction of a shadowy figure known only as “Management” (Matt Damon), Qohen works to solve the “Zero Theorem” – a mathematical formula which will finally determine whether life has any meaning. Qohen’s work in the burnt-out chapel that serves as his home is interrupted by visits from Bainsley, a seductive woman, and Bob, the teenage son of Management.

Release Date: Currently in post-production, principal photography in October, it appears that some territories are planning for a December release. With such a cast in place, I could see a huge film festival showing either Cannes, Venice and or TIFF.

“The Winter Queen”

‘Seven Arts Entertainment’ recently announced that both Anjelica Huston and David Thewlis will be portraying the roles of ‘Lady Astair’ and ‘Count Zurov’ in the motion picture adaption of “The Winter Queen” which is based on the international best-selling novel by Boris Akunin and and will be directed by Fedor Bonderchuk.

Synopsis: “The Winter Queen” tells the story of intrepid young police detective Erast Fandorin and a mystery that begins with the suicides of several wealthy young men throughout 1886 Russia and ends in an extensive plot for global domination. Fandorin’s naïve wit and the suave yet volatile Count Zurov are his only protection from the ever more elaborate attempts on his life as he follows the conspiracy from Russia to England and back again; navigating unknown worlds with charm if not with ease. The enigmatic femme fatale Amalia seems to be somehow at the center of it all, but can the saintly British aristocrat Lady Astair, founder of a string of orphanages which have greatly benefited from the wills of the affluent dead men, really be trusted?

David Joins All-Star Cast in “RED 2″

Thewlis will play an information dealer who earned the nickname ‘The Frog’ after poisoning the Kremlin’s water supply with an Amazonian frog. “Red,” which stands for Retired: Extremely Dangerous, followed Frank Moses (Willis) who is forced out of retirement after a he takes out a hit squad which was sent to his house. The elderly cast are reunited top level assassins and former government agents from all over the world.
